Hermannikoti

Hermannikoti is a residential care home for children with special needs, located in Saimaanharju, Taipalsaari, Finland. Operating since summer 2008, it provides a warm, homelike environment where each child’s individual needs, condition, diagnosis and responses to care guide the support they receive. Its approach recognizes every child as a unique person with feelings and a right to be themselves. The setting encourages children to feel comfortable, play and explore.

The home offers residential and daytime care, with capacity for up to five children in residential care and two in day care. Its services include care for children with special needs, nursing procedures when required, and cooperation with child protection services as needed. Hermannikoti also supports respite breaks for parents providing informal care; families may arrange a stay using a service voucher.

Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, practical nurses, childcare professionals, a social services professional, nursing students and a care assistant. The home is open around the clock to those needing support.
