Herning Historie is a local history platform sharing the stories and heritage of Herning Municipality, Denmark. Its articles and photographs are provided by the municipality’s local archives and cover people, places, businesses, events and everyday life across different periods. Featured stories explore topics such as historic fires, local figures, postal services and family or community memories, offering residents and history enthusiasts an accessible way to discover the area’s past.
The website also provides information about the local archives across the municipality, including how to find and use their resources. Visitors can browse news, events and historical stories, search for material, and contribute by sharing a story of their own. Herning Historie also introduces Historiens Hus at Museumsgade 32, a home for eight historical associations, each with its own activities. These include groups focused on local history, genealogy, workers’ songs, crafts and museums. Together, the platform and its partner archives and associations help preserve and communicate local knowledge, connecting historical records and personal recollections with the wider community.
