HEROSZ is the Herman Ottó Hungarian National Association for Animal and Nature Conservation. Established in 1882 by the renowned scientist Herman Ottó, HEROSZ is Hungary's first and one of the earliest animal welfare associations in Europe. Their mission focuses on assisting animals in need and advocating for the creation of appropriate legislation to protect them and the environment.
With the operation of 5 animal shelters in Hungary, they provide care for nearly 1000 animals daily. HEROSZ aims to promote a compassionate attitude towards animals and nature through education and work towards incorporating such values into school curricula. The association operates solely on donations and contributions, making support from individuals invaluable.
