About Her Place Museum
Her Place Women's Museum is a not-for-profit organization that celebrates the accomplishments of Australian women and their impact on shaping the nation. The museum aims to create a public space that honors women's achievements through exhibitions, public programs, educational resources, and an archive. Their vision is to inspire and empower future generations of girls by showcasing the social, civic, and entrepreneurial contributions of women, both known and unknown, to the country's landscape.
The museum originated in 2014 and merged with the Women’s Heritage Centre Victoria in 2016 before receiving funding from the State Government to create an online museum and archive. In 2018, the Victorian State Government granted the National Trust $1 million for Her Place to establish a permanent home in East Melbourne.
As a registered charity and company, Her Place Women’s Museum Australia is dedicated to increasing the visibility of women's achievements and is affiliated with the International Association of Women’s Museums. Their DGR status ensures that all donations over $2 are tax-deductible. While not currently open to the public, the museum is available for appointments.
