Herttoniemen Taekwondo is a martial arts club based in Herttoniemi, East Helsinki, welcoming beginners and experienced practitioners of different ages and fitness levels. With more than 40 years of taekwondo tradition in the area, the club offers training for children from age two, young people, adults, families and seniors. Its programme also includes fitness boxing, Kombatan, senior Kombatan, competition training and individual coaching.
Training takes place at the club’s own facility on Mekaanikonkatu, near Siilitie metro station. The club is led by head instructor Inkwon Hwang, an eighth dan practitioner with over 40 years of taekwondo experience and international refereeing and national-team coaching backgrounds. New participants can join selected groups for a free trial, with advance registration required; no previous martial arts experience or special equipment is needed to begin. Classes are generally practised barefoot, and uniforms and protective equipment can be purchased later through the club. Herttoniemen Taekwondo presents itself as a welcoming community for building skills, fitness and confidence through martial arts.
