Herzkinder Unterland

Herzkinder Unterland e.V. is a self-help association supporting families whose children are born with heart defects. Since 1995, it has accompanied families in the Heidelberg and Heilbronn region, helping them share experiences, find information and feel less alone. The association connects parents and relatives, facilitates contact with other families and experts, and represents the interests of children with heart conditions. It also offers practical support with challenges such as navigating administrative processes and rehabilitation applications.

Herzkinder Unterland develops projects to ease the strain of hospital stays and everyday family life. Its activities include regular visits from sensitive clinic clowns and the “Gute Fee,” who offers children a listening ear in Heidelberg’s pediatric cardiology department, as well as massages for parents in the children’s hospital. The association also organizes initiatives such as pizza events for young patients and gatherings for children and families. Individuals can support its work by becoming members, donating or creating their own fundraising activities.
