Founded in 1885, Hesketh Golf Club is Southportโs oldest golf club and a historic destination for links golf on Englandโs Golf Coast. Set among the Victorian villas of Churchtown, its course borders a renowned nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest, combining a distinctive natural setting with a championship pedigree. Designed by George Lowe and James Braid, the links regularly hosts Regional Qualifying for The Open and has welcomed events including the R&A Junior Open, the Amateur Championship and the English Amateur Championship.
The English Golf Union was founded at Hesketh, and the clubโs heritage includes the โHitler Trophyโ, won by member Arnold Bentley at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Hesketh offers golf memberships, visitor tee times, group and society bookings, and open competitions. Visitors can find course information and arrange a round through the clubโs booking services.
