Hessing Foundation

Hessing Sanitätshaus has supported mobility and health for more than 150 years, continuing the tradition of founder Friedrich Hessing, known as the father of technical orthopedics. Serving Augsburg and the surrounding region from four locations, the organization combines personal consultation with custom products made by specialists in its own orthopedic workshops.

Its services span three main areas. The medical supply stores offer bandages, compression therapy, support stockings, ready-made orthoses, breast prostheses, mobility aids, medical training equipment, and wellness products. Orthopedic technology includes individually fitted orthoses, arm and leg prostheses, scoliosis and back supports, corsets, and rehabilitation solutions, including pediatric and specialized adaptations. Orthopedic footwear services include custom insoles and shoes, therapeutic footwear for people with diabetes, shoe modifications and repairs, safety footwear, and comfort and outdoor shoes. Hessing also provides running shoes, running advice, and gait and running analysis.

The organization emphasizes precise fitting, quality, and solutions tailored to each person’s needs. Online appointments are available for insoles, compression, and corset services, and customers may also visit without an appointment.
