Het Bonte Boertje is a bird association for enthusiasts who keep and breed a wide range of cage and aviary birds. Despite its name, the association is not limited to Senegal parrots, known in Dutch as “bonte boertjes. ” Its members are interested in many kinds of tropical birds, as well as color and type canaries.
The varieties represented include budgerigars, lovebirds, lorikeets, rosellas and parrots. Members’ care and breeding efforts are showcased at the association’s annual exhibition, where visitors can see the results of their work. The association’s focus is on bringing together people who share an interest in ornamental birds and supporting a community around keeping and breeding them.
Its website introduces the association and its activities, although the supplied text notes that the site is not yet available in a mobile version. For bird enthusiasts interested in learning about the group, its members and the diverse species they keep, Het Bonte Boertje offers a local association centered on shared avicultural interests
