About Heydaybooks
Heyday Books is an independent nonprofit publisher that was founded in 1974 in Berkeley, California. As a diverse community of writers and readers, activists, and thinkers, Heyday is committed to promoting civic engagement and social justice while celebrating the beauty of nature. They also actively support California Indian cultural renewal and explore the rich history, culture, and influence of the state.
Heyday publishes approximately twenty books each year and has played a leading role in numerous public education programs throughout California. They collaborate with prestigious cultural organizations, including the University of California's Bancroft Library, the California Historical Society, and the California State Library, among others. Under the co-leadership of Steve Wasserman and Gayle Wattawa, Heyday has grown to become a major cultural enterprise.
They have expanded their distribution nationally through Publishers Group West, one of the country's top distributors. Join the Heyday community and uncover the fascinating world of California through their thought-provoking books and engaging events.
