About Human Genetics Society of Australasia
The Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA) is the leading professional organization in human genetics, dedicated to advancing the provision of quality genetic health for all. Established in 1977, the society provides a platform for various disciplines within human genetics to collaborate and drive progress through research, education, and advocacy. HGSA offers a range of valuable services to its members and stakeholders.
Ordinary members, who possess recognized qualifications in relevant disciplines and work in corresponding positions, benefit from networking opportunities with fellow geneticists, participation in certification programs, and exclusive rates for the society's Annual Scientific Meetings. Members can also join special interest groups and receive alerts for scholarships and job opportunities. In addition to individual membership, HGSA welcomes not-for-profit organizations with a professional interest in its activities.
The society organizes various events such as symposiums and forums, creating spaces for knowledge sharing and collaboration. The society acknowledges the importance of advancing equitable access to excellence in genetic healthcare across the lifespan and actively supports the rights and cultural values of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as well as the unique role of Mฤori as Tangata Whenua in Aotearoa/New Zealand
