About Harwich Haven Authority
Harwich Haven Authority (HHA) is a Trust Port responsible for safeguarding and preserving the Harwich Haven, one of Europe's largest harbours. With over 900 years of history, Harwich has been a hub of trade and economic growth. Established by an act of Parliament in 1863, HHA plays a critical role in the ongoing success and development of the area.
Covering a vast area of 150 square miles, HHA ensures the safety of everyone using the harbour. Their Pilotage, Vessel Traffic Services, and marine services operate around the clock to keep the Haven flowing smoothly. As an independent organization with no shareholders, HHA generates income through the services it offers, allowing them to reinvest surplus profits for the benefit of stakeholders.
They are accountable to various stakeholders, including The Department for Transport, local authorities, environmental groups, sailors, residents, and community groups. HHA maintains an open dialogue with its stakeholders to ensure that the harbour meets everyone's needs. Located in Harwich, Essex, HHA can be contacted for more information about its services and operations
