HIFO Trøndelag

HIFO Trøndelag is the Trøndelag branch of Den norske historiske forening, Norway’s historical association. It brings together people interested in history and creates opportunities for historians and the wider public to share research, learn about the region’s past, and meet others with similar interests. Its activities welcome contributors and participants from universities, museums, archives, schools, and other settings.

The association organizes the Midtnorsk historieseminar, an annual professional and social gathering featuring invited speakers and presentations selected from submitted proposals. Seminar topics span regional and Norwegian history, historical research, and history education. HIFO Trøndelag also hosts public lectures on subjects including Sámi history, emigration, and historical perspectives on Trondheim, as well as guided city walks exploring the city’s educational and cultural past. Events may include opportunities for discussion and socializing.

Through seminars, lectures, and walks, HIFO Trøndelag supports the exchange of historical knowledge and encourages conversations about the histories of Trøndelag and beyond. Its program connects current research with local places, archival sources, and broader historical questions.
