Cypress Creek Energy

High Top Solar is a utility-scale renewable energy project in Yakima County, Washington, developed by Cypress Creek Energy. Once operational, the facility is expected to generate 80 megawatts of solar electricity and provide 40 megawatts of battery storage to support grid reliability and energy resilience. Its planned output will deliver clean, quiet, carbon-free power to homes and businesses across Washington, while helping reduce exposure to fluctuating fuel and transportation costs.

The project is projected to contribute $11–15 million in local tax benefits for county infrastructure, public services, and community initiatives. Construction could create up to 300 jobs for local contractors, with as many as five full-time positions expected during the facility’s projected 40-year operating life. Cypress Creek Energy describes itself as a long-term partner to Yakima County and has supported local initiatives, including a scholarship program and park aquatic center operations.

High Top Solar was permitted by Washington State’s Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council in April 2023.
