Hill Top Winery & Meadery is a renowned brand located in Nelson County, Virginia. Since its establishment in 1993 as a pick-your-own berry farm, it has evolved into the fifty-first winery in Virginia in 1998. Hill Top Winery offers visitors a unique experience of tasting true to the fruit wines and historically-accurate honey meads.
Crafted in small batches, all 32 varieties of fruit wines and meads are made and bottled on their farm. Their true to the fruit wines are made from a variety of fruits, ranging from blueberries and blackberries to plums and elderberries. The aim is to preserve the natural flavor of each fruit so that it can be easily identified when tasted.
Additionally, Hill Top specializes in authentic honey mead, an ancient alcoholic beverage made by fermenting honey. Here, visitors can step back in time and enjoy the drink of ancient civilizations, while learning about the history of each mead. Situated in the picturesque Rockfish River Valley, Hill Top serves as a scenic travel destination with orchards, farms, local restaurants, and various outdoor activities.
The winery is conveniently located on Route 151, which connects several wineries, breweries, and cideries in the Rockfish Valley. For those interested in visiting, Hill Top offers a tasting room open seven days a week from 11AM to 5PM, providing an opportunity to explore their wide range of wines and meads. Additionally, they offer a 10% discount on wine purchases for veterans, members of the military, and law enforcement officers.
