Hawaiʻi Land Trust (HILT) is a Hawaiʻi-wide, nationally accredited land trust and 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting the lands that sustain the islands. The organization believes that the health of Hawaiʻi’s communities and future generations depends on the well-being of the land, and approaches conservation as a shared responsibility and a lasting relationship with ʻāina.
HILT protects land through community preserves, conservation easements, active ʻāina transactions, and stewardship and restoration work. Its programs connect people with the places and practices that support Hawaiʻi, including ʻāina-based community initiatives and youth programs. The trust also offers opportunities to take part through volunteering, events, educational visits, and corporate partnerships and retreats. Visitors can explore its preserves, while landowners and communities can access resources related to conservation.
HILT reports eight community preserves, 55 conservation easements, and 22,728 acres preserved. Its work also includes student visits and volunteer service, helping build connection with the land across generations.
