Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal

The Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal (HRA) is a vital non-profit organization established in 1973 with a mission to reduce casualties in the challenging terrains of the Nepal Himalayas. As trekking in this region becomes increasingly popular among both Nepali and foreign adventurers, HRA focuses on preventing deaths caused by altitude-related illnesses. With aid posts situated in remote locations like Pheriche at 4,250 meters and Manang at 3,550 meters, the association provides essential medical support during peak trekking seasons through dedicated volunteer doctors.

In addition to its permanent aid posts, HRA has pioneered initiatives like the HRA Everest-ER medical camp at Everest Base Camp, ensuring climbers and trekkers receive timely assistance. The organization also conducts temporary medical camps during significant local festivals, offering free medical services to Nepali pilgrims. HRA runs awareness campaigns on mountain safety, especially regarding Acute Mountain Sickness, distributing educational pamphlets in both English and Nepali. Through collaborative efforts and generous patronage, HRA continues to promote safety and health in the majestic yet precarious Himalayan landscape.
