Hima Seafood is a pioneering brand in the world of land-based aquaculture. Located in Rjukan, a land of natural beauty in Telemark, Norway, Hima is establishing the largest land-based trout farm globally. The farm utilizes Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) technology, a sustainable and environmentally conscious method of fish production.

In this state-of-the-art facility, pure, clean mountain water is recirculated, ensuring the health and well-being of the fish. The facility aims to produce around 9,000 tonnes of premium Hima® Trout annually, equivalent to a staggering 22,000,000 dinners. This trout variety, originating from the Osland trout strain in the Sognefjord, is highly nutritious and robust, thriving in fresh water.

With an estimated production time of 17 months, the fish reach their ideal average weight of about 4 kg. Hima Seafood has partnered with Osland Havbruk AS for roe deliveries and Villa Seafood for sales, distribution, and processing of the Hima brand.
