Hinterland Thoroughbreds is an equine training and care business run by Sarah Gardiner and her team from Canungra in Queensland’s Gold Coast hinterland. The facility is about an hour’s drive from both the Gold Coast and Brisbane and serves horses of many types, including thoroughbreds, warmbloods and stockhorses. Its services support horses at different stages of their development and racing preparation: breaking, pre-training and spelling. Breaking helps young horses begin their racing careers, while pre-training focuses on fitness and preparation. Spelling provides horses with time to recuperate in Queensland’s climate and spacious paddocks.
Hinterland’s approach is based on individual care, with programs tailored to each horse’s needs at the time. The team’s facilities and attention to feeding, education and overall wellbeing are intended to help horses develop healthy habits, fitness and confidence. Trainers and owners have used the business for yearling education, race preparation and spelling older horses. Hinterland Thoroughbreds aims to give each horse suitable care as it progresses toward its next stage.
