Histoire Engagée is a history-focused website that connects the past with present-day issues. It comments on current affairs through a rigorous historical perspective, presenting accessible content on topics concerning Canada, Quebec and the international community. Its offerings include in-depth articles, shorter pieces, blogs, reviews, interviews, conference content and multimedia, alongside themed dossiers and archival chronicles.

The site also features debates on current events, biographical writing, educational resources and coverage of history in areas such as Indigenous histories, culture, politics, gender, migration and the environment. Some long-form articles undergo external double-blind peer review, while other sections are assessed internally. Histoire Engagée welcomes both submissions for themed dossiers and unsolicited contributions, and issues calls for work on subjects including history education and the relationship between environmental change and migration.

With contributions from hundreds of writers and coverage spanning more than two hundred subjects, the site serves readers, researchers and educators interested in historically informed public discussion. Its work is shared under a Creative Commons non-commercial, share-alike license
