The Portal da História do Ceará is a digital heritage project dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Ceará, Brazil. Built on more than three decades of documentary research and curation, it brings together historical newspapers, manuscripts, photographs, books, magazines, biographies, maps, and accounts of significant events. Its digital newspaper library includes rare publications dating back to 1824, alongside editions from later periods, with materials cataloged and digitized for public access.
Visitors can explore featured discoveries from the collection, browse historical content, and follow short videos that highlight original newspaper pages and stories from Ceará’s past. The portal also offers an AI-supported research system, combining advanced text recognition and semantic search to help users find information across digitized documents. New materials are added as the collection grows through partnerships with public and private institutions.
The project invites feedback and contributions, including the submission of historical materials, and makes its content available for free with a request to cite the source
