About Route 66 Association of Arizona
The Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona works to preserve, protect, and promote Arizona’s historic stretch of the Mother Road. The route spans more than 250 miles, from Lupton near the New Mexico border to Topock near California, and includes 16 historic communities such as Oatman, Kingman, Seligman, Williams, Flagstaff, Winslow, and Holbrook. Visitors can explore historic towns, diners, neon signs, classic motels, roadside attractions, museums, and distinctive Arizona landscapes.
The association helps travelers plan their journey through route guides, suggested itineraries, a guided audio tour, and information about events and how to get there. Its website also offers a trip-planning tool, a Route 66 passport, a shop, travel resources, historic photographs, lesson plans, and printed materials. The organization supports preservation through grants, educational resources, and public engagement, including the Route 66 Centennial, events, and a quarterly newsletter.
By celebrating the road’s history and character, the association aims to help future generations experience Arizona’s Route 66
