About Historic Kansas City
Historic Kansas City is an organization dedicated to protecting, promoting, and preserving the historic places of Kansas City. Through their advocacy and education efforts, they bring together individuals and organizations to shape the future of the city's historic buildings and neighborhoods. They value collaboration and understand that preservation is most effective when it involves a wide range of partners.
From their members and sponsors to public officials and volunteers, they work together to ensure the preservation of Kansas City's unique heritage. As an independent voice for preservation, they provide up-to-date information about proposed changes to historic resources, share preservation-related news, and alert their community when action is needed. Historic Kansas City also plays an active role in influencing development projects that impact historic neighborhoods and landmarks.
They support new construction, restoration, and adaptive reuse projects that contribute to the city's cultural and architectural identity. Additionally, Historic Kansas City hosts lectures, city walking tours, and recognizes landmarks and historic districts. When necessary, they also take legal action to prevent the loss or damage of significant historic resources.
