HistoryBeforeUs

History Before Us is a dynamic brand dedicated to capturing and preserving African American history, highlighting the crucial narratives often overlooked in traditional historical accounts. Founded by Frederick Murphy, a Licensed Professional Counselor and educator, the project emerged from his passion for storytelling and family history. Since 2016, History Before Us has focused on documenting the lived experiences of individuals affected by Jim Crow laws, shedding light on their resilience and contributions.

The brand offers a range of compelling documentaries, including the award-winning "The American South As We Know It" and the recent release "Sweet Home Alabama: A Chief and His Protégé," which explores themes of survival and perseverance. Their works serve as a valuable resource for understanding historical complexities and fostering conversations around race and reconciliation. With a commitment to making these stories accessible for future generations, History Before Us invites audiences to engage with the rich legacies of African American history through film, articles, and community outreach.
