Hitachimaru is a fishing charter operating from the Fifth Wharf at Hitachi Port in Hitachi, Ibaraki Prefecture. It takes anglers to the productive waters off Hitachi, where warm and cold currents meet, and offers trips targeting seasonal fish throughout the year. Fishing options include Pacific bluefin tuna, bonito and marlin by lure, jigging for pelagic fish, and trips for flounder, yari squid and octopus. The schedule and latest catch reports are updated online, with current plans and available spaces posted for prospective passengers.

The charter welcomes beginners as well as experienced anglers. Its large, fast vessel is designed for comfortable travel, with an air-conditioned cabin spacious enough to rest in and features intended to reduce motion and protect passengers from spray. Rental fishing tackle is available by advance reservation, and the boat’s shop sells selected rigs, sinkers and underwater lights. Octopus-specific tackle and weights are also offered.
