About Holocaust Memorial Day Trust
Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) is a charity established and funded by the UK Government with the aim of promoting and supporting Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) in the UK. Since 2001, HMD has been commemorated through a UK Commemorative Ceremony and more than 10,000 local activities held on or around 27 January each year. HMDT played a crucial role in establishing HMD as an international day of remembrance in 2000, with 46 governments signing the Stockholm Declaration.
As a registered charity, HMDT has overseen significant growth in local HMD activities, working in collaboration with various organizations to share the life stories of survivors with hundreds of thousands of people. Their work is guided by five key goals, which are detailed in their publication, Holocaust Memorial Day 2022 in Review. HMDT is governed by a Board of Trustees, and is privileged to have The former Prince of Wales as its patron.
The charity is supported by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, and is committed to its mission and strategy of promoting awareness and remembrance of the Holocaust and genocides
