HocbongSTEM is an initiative of the Center for Education and Development that supports girls and young women pursuing studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Its scholarship programs aim to widen access to STEM education, particularly for students facing financial hardship, and encourage women to contribute to Vietnam’s future development. Available programs include the Merali Scholarship, Teillon-Ludlow Scholarship, scholarships for secondary students, the Asia Foundation program, Future Energy Scholarship, and STEM Scholarship.

Alongside financial assistance, HocbongSTEM offers practical skills training in areas such as financial and time management, résumé writing, interview preparation, communication, presentations, and goal-setting. Students can also develop professional knowledge through activities with STEM experts, and may gain experience through internships with STEM organizations. The initiative encourages scholarship recipients to share their enthusiasm by organizing STEM activities for children and older people in their communities. Inspired in part by Microsoft’s Digigirlz campaign, students have also supported talks that motivate girls in schools across Vietnam to explore technology and STEM careers.
