Hockey Power Rankings (HPR) is dedicated to delivering a fair and objective system for evaluating college hockey teams. Utilizing the KRACH ratings, named after creator Ken Butler, HPR provides a sophisticated yet straightforward approach to rankings. The KRACH system factors in each team's win/loss record and the strength of their opponents to produce a comprehensive rating for all competing teams. Unlike traditional point systems, KRACH emphasizes performance against challenging schedules without bias towards goal differentials.
This unique methodology applies the Bradley-Terry model, employing iterative calculations to achieve a precise ranking for each team. Results are continuously refined to ensure accuracy and fairness, fostering a competitive landscape where all teams have an equal chance of success.
HPR not only ranks teams but aims to become an integral component of national hockey tournaments and championships, with a vision that resonates with the future of college hockey governance. As the sport evolves, Hockey Power Rankings aims to set a standard for transparency and competition in the world of hockey rankings.
