Hoefsmederij Sommer

Hoefsmederij Sommer is a professional farriery business serving sport and recreational horses across the Apeldoorn–Amersfoort–Zwolle region. Originally based in Vierhouten on the Veluwe, the business brings a fully equipped mobile forge to clients’ locations for hoof care and shoeing. For highly specialized work that cannot be carried out on site, the horse and owner may need to travel to another location.

Services focus on the relationship between shoeing and a horse’s movement, as well as care for a range of hoof conditions, problems, and difficult feet. Although the business serves both sport and leisure horses, sport horses make up the largest share of its clientele. Hoefsmederij Sommer collaborates with equine clinics, veterinary practices, orthopedic specialists, and fellow farriers in the Netherlands.

Farrier René Sommer became self-employed in 2006, following professional training and practical experience. He is EFFA-certified and a member of the Dutch Association of Farriers. Clients can contact him to arrange an appointment or ask a question.
