The Eric Hoffer Book Award celebrates the legacy of the renowned American philosopher Eric Hoffer by recognizing exceptional writing and promoting the independent spirit of small, academic, and self-publishing presses. Established as one of the largest international book awards for these publishers, the Hoffer Award annually honors outstanding works across a diverse range of twenty-four categories, including the prestigious Grand Prize, which is valued at $5,000. Additional accolades include the Montaigne Medal, the da Vinci Eye, the First Horizon Award, and the Medal Provocateur.

Books are nominated through a streamlined registration process that allows submissions to compete across multiple award categories. The award emphasizes accessibility for all authors and publishers, with a key deadline for nominations set annually on January 21st. As the award continues to grow, it affirms its commitment to celebrating literary excellence and supporting independent voices in the publishing industry.
