Tierhilfe Hoffnungspfoten e.V.

Hoffnungspfoten e.V. is a German animal welfare organization focused on sustainable support for dogs and cats in Portugal. Working with a local Portuguese partner and animal advocate, the organization aims to improve conditions for animals in the region while arranging thoughtful adoptions to Germany. Its work goes beyond rehoming: Hoffnungspfoten supports local care, promotes animal welfare education, reports suspected violations, and organizes sterilization campaigns with communities to help reduce the number of animals in need.

The organization prepares dogs in Portugal and helps match them with suitable homes in Germany. Its adoption program features puppies, adult female and male dogs, and animals already in German foster homes. Hoffnungspfoten provides guidance to prospective adopters on topics such as a dog’s needs, Mediterranean diseases, and the responsibilities involved in caring for certain breeds. Conversations and home checks help assess whether a placement is appropriate, and support continues after adoption. If an adoption cannot work out, the organization says it will take the dog back and seek a better fit.
