Hogan Hockey develops cut-resistant protective equipment designed to help hockey players reduce the risk of skate-blade lacerations. The company introduced its ACHILLES® line in 2010, offering protection for players from grassroots hockey through professional levels. Its products are intended for use during hockey and are cut-resistant, not cut-proof.
The ACHILLES® range includes cut-resistant skate socks, hybrid socks, wrist guards, shin tights and baselayer underwear. The underwear, including a version designed for goalies, uses HPPE cut-resistant panels to cover vulnerable areas of the legs. It has a compression fit and is made with a nylon-and-spandex base layer. The products can be combined, such as wearing the underwear with ACHILLES® socks for additional coverage around the Achilles tendon and calf. Hogan Hockey states that its equipment has received clearance from the NHL for use in NHL games.
Customers can buy products online and contact the company for product information and sizing guidance. Hogan Hockey also offers special pricing for teams and hockey associations considering recommending or requiring cut-resistant gear.
