Hogar CREA, Inc. is a Puerto Rico nonprofit organization founded in 1968 in Trujillo Alto by Juan J. García, known as Chejuán. It provides drug- and alcohol-addiction prevention and treatment through a drug-free, long-term residential model based on the therapeutic community approach, as well as intensive outpatient treatment for people who want support while continuing their daily routines. Services are available to individuals who seek help voluntarily and to people referred by courts, correctional agencies, government departments, and other organizations.
Residential and related support may include accommodation, meals, medical and detoxification services, transportation, education, social work, psychological care, family intervention, counseling, and group therapy. Hogar CREA also serves people experiencing homelessness, people living with HIV/AIDS, mothers with young children, adolescents, and justice-involved adults. Its Ryan White program in San Juan offers case management, transportation to medical appointments, transitional housing, early intervention, referrals, and free rapid HIV testing. Community activities include prevention talks, workshops, outreach, and practical assistance.
