Hōhepa Hawke's Bay is a brand dedicated to establishing and maintaining home schools in New Zealand for the curative education and social therapy of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Our vision is to ensure that every life is fully lived, guided by the founding principles inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner, a renowned philosopher and educator of the early 20th century. At Hōhepa, we believe that in every person, regardless of their apparent impairment, there is a spiritual individuality at work.

We strive to support individuals with intellectual disabilities in developing to their fullest potential. Our residential life program begins with a curative education curriculum based on Steiner's teachings. We work closely with the Ministry of Education to provide a holistic educational experience.

Our adult community life includes vocational programs in various crafts such as weaving, woodwork, candlemaking, farming, and gardening. Residents also have the opportunity to participate in the wider community through activities like Riding For Disabled and shopping trips. The farm and craft studio products are sold in our on-site shop.

Our commitment to high standards of care is ensured through well-defined policies, procedures, and regular audits. We maintain close relationships with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Development to uphold our obligations and standards.
