Bengal's Shahbaz Ahmed, a versatile all-rounder, made his mark in the Ranji Trophy 2019-20 season with 35 wickets and 509 runs, contributing significantly to his team's journey to the final. Despite falling short, Ahmed praised the coaching duo of Arun Lal and Abhimanyu Easwaran for their positive impact. Under the 'Vision 2020' program by the Cricket Association of Bengal, Ahmed honed his skills alongside former cricketer VVS Laxman, who likened him to Ravindra Jadeja.
Moving from Haryana to Kolkata for better opportunities, Ahmed found his place in Bengal cricket. His performances in domestic tournaments earned him a spot in the Deodhar Trophy and a call-up to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. With an aspiration to learn from Virat Kohli, Ahmed stays focused on training at home during the lockdown, eagerly awaiting the chance to shine on the field again
