About Holocaust Centre of New Zealand
Welcome to the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand (HCNZ), the nation's premier Holocaust education and remembrance center. Established in 2007 by Holocaust survivors, refugees, and their descendants, HCNZ is dedicated to honoring the victims and survivors of the Holocaust, particularly the families who settled in New Zealand.
Our center offers a variety of impactful exhibits, including a core exhibition that highlights New Zealand's unique connection to the Holocaust. Discover powerful survivor stories before, during, and after this horrific period, explore timelines of events in Europe and New Zealand's responses, and much more.
We strive to provide an immersive educational experience for students and teachers, offering programs aligned with NCEA and New Zealand curriculum standards. Additionally, we host a biennial seminar in partnership with Yad Vashem in Israel to train New Zealand educators on teaching the Holocaust.
Join us for a visit, whether as a casual walk-in or a group booking, and immerse yourself in the profound history of the Holocaust. We are located at 80 Webb Street, Te Aro, Wellington, and open from Monday to Sunday, with extended hours on the last Sunday of each month. Together, we can combat antisemitism, discrimination, and apathy through remembrance, education, and active witness.
