Holzdandler

Holzdandler, also presented as the Köhler von Kaltenberg, is the historical interpretation project of Holger Lauerer, based in Augsburg, Germany. It brings medieval and Renaissance markets, festivals, and events to life through authentic or reconstructed crafts, historical roles, and demonstrations of everyday life. The project invites visitors to explore the period around 1250 and encounter history as something practical and engaging, alongside the study of written, visual, and archaeological evidence.

Its services include historical reenactment, designed to make the past understandable and vivid; museum education, which uses hands-on experiences to share historical knowledge with children and young people; and tailored team-building programs for organizations. Activities highlight how people built, cooked, and practiced crafts in the Middle Ages, with projects such as “Kaltenberg 1250” reflecting this immersive approach.
