Hoorewech

Genealogie Hoorewech is the website of the genealogical association Hoorewech, dedicated to researching and sharing the history of families bearing related surnames. Its focus includes Hoornweg, Hoornweg van Rij, Hoorweg and Horeweg, names found across the Netherlands and in several other countries. The site presents the family’s origins through the story of Jannetje Cornelisdr.

Hoorewech, born around 1550 at a farm on the Hoorewech in Overschie, near Rotterdam. It explains the connection between her and the later generations of people with these surnames, as well as the history of the farm, which was demolished in 1952 after becoming Rotterdam municipal property. Visitors can explore historical background, family overviews, coats of arms, news, requests for information, homepages and a section on ten generations of Hoor(n)weg families.

The association also brings together genealogical data collected by many contributors and provides information about its sources. The website recognizes the contributions of Ben J. Hoornweg, who gathered substantial family information, and Dick Klapwijk, who digitized material and created the first website
