Horizons Regional Council is dedicated to ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources in the Horizons (Manawatū-Whanganui) region. Covering an impressive 22,200km2, our region stretches from Ruapehu in the north to Horowhenua in the south, and from Whanganui in the west to Tararua in the east. With a population of nearly 250,000 people, our area is as diverse as the landscape itself.

At Horizons, we strive to create a vibrant and thriving region for residents to live, work, and play. Our responsibilities include managing natural resources, leading regional land transport planning, coordinating our region's response to natural disasters, and contracting passenger transport services. We actively collaborate with local city and district councils, as well as other agencies, to ensure that our region is managed to benefit everyone.

As a progressive and forward-thinking council, we have a team of 14 elected Councillors who work together to develop suitable plans and policies for the region. These decisions are then implemented by our dedicated Executive Management Team.
