The Horse Show Association of Australia Inc. (HSAA) is an Australian organisation established in Brisbane in August 1977 by six breed societies seeking consistent rules for horse shows and performance events. Today, it is supported by affiliated clubs, western performance clubs, smaller breed associations and accredited judges. A Management Committee, made up of office bearers and representatives from associations and the judging community, oversees the organisation and considers members’ views when reviewing rules.
HSAA provides a rulebook covering event procedures, class routines, dress requirements and permitted or prohibited practices. Rulebooks are available for purchase, and updates to rules, judge listings and affiliated-club details are published annually. The association also offers online judge accreditation and application information; accredited judges must complete an online rules refresher every two years. Competitors can apply to HSAA for Amateur Owner recognition when their breed association does not provide that option, or when they prefer not to pursue points through it.
