About Hortich-Stiftung
The Hortich Foundation is a family foundation based in Aken with a history spanning more than four centuries, dating to the early 17th century. Established by 36 founding families, it supports their descendants, particularly by helping them pursue vocational training and higher education. The foundation continues this purpose through the sustainable management of its assets and the award of scholarships to eligible applicants.
Its website provides information for prospective applicants, descendants of the founding families, and anyone interested in the foundation. Visitors can review scholarship eligibility, application procedures, and relevant notices, as well as explore a directory of family names to investigate connections with the founding families. The site also explains the foundation’s purpose, organization, governing bodies, and legal framework. Historical resources, including a chronicle of the foundation and information about its founder, Kilian Hortich, offer insight into its long relationship with Aken and the participating families. Through its educational grants and public information resources, the Hortich Foundation maintains a longstanding commitment to supporting the educational opportunities of eligible descendants.
