Hortus is a gastronomic restaurant in Toulouse, located on Rue Croix-Baragnon between the Carmes and Saint-Étienne districts. Its name means “garden” or “vegetable garden,” reflecting a nature-focused approach to cooking. Led by Toulouse-born chef Clément Lessoud, Hortus presents “Cuisine des Suds,” a cuisine shaped by his South-West France roots, the Basque coast and his formative years in Marseille. The restaurant celebrates seasonal, local produce and the people and skills behind it, bringing together familiar flavours and unexpected touches.
Guests can choose from several tasting menus: a four-course weekday lunch, a six-course Abysse menu, a five-course Prémices menu, or an eight-course Odyssée menu. A children’s menu may be arranged with the chef. Hortus notes that it cannot accommodate gluten-free or lactose-free menus and asks guests to mention other requests or allergies when booking. The restaurant offers an elegant, calm setting with warm hospitality and a refined design. It is open weekday evenings, with lunch service except on Wednesdays; it is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
