About The Bird House
Bird House is a brand that aims to provide compassionate end-of-life care to individuals in Johnson County, Iowa. The brand's story began when Lois Bird recognized the need for a hospice home in the area, inspired by her late husband's experience. With the support of a dedicated community, the Bird House became a reality in April 2016, thanks to the tireless efforts of Lois and the early Board.
The 4,300 square foot house at 8 Lime Kiln Lane NE in Iowa City serves as the location for the Hospice Home of Johnson County, named in honor of Lois and her family. The Bird House works closely with four local hospice agencies to offer 24/7 quality care to guests and their families. With over 16 full and part-time hospice caregivers and more than 40 active volunteers, the Bird House ensures personalized care and support.
