Hospiz-Verein Giessen

Hospiz-Verein Gießen e. V. is a nonprofit ambulatory hospice service supporting people with serious illnesses and those approaching the end of life, along with their families. Guided by its mission of companionship during life’s final stage, the association provides compassionate, voluntary support wherever people feel at home, including private residences, care homes, hospitals and inpatient hospices. Trained volunteer hospice companions offer attentive listening, share a meaningful moment or simply sit beside someone in quiet presence. Their support can also ease the burden on relatives.

The association additionally offers bereavement support for people coping with loss and “Letzte Hilfe” (Last Aid) courses. For more than 25 years, its volunteer board and professional coordinators have helped build a community of over 100 trained volunteers. Services are provided free of charge. Community members can support the work by becoming members, making donations, joining a training course or volunteering as hospice companions. Contributions help fund volunteer education and ongoing end-of-life and bereavement care.
