Founded in 1998, the Taiwan LGBT Hotline Association is a national LGBTQ+ organization dedicated to serving and supporting the marginalized LGBTQ+ community in Taiwan. The association was established in response to the tragic news of a young LGBTQ+ person's suicide, which deeply saddened and shocked several LGBTQ+ activists, leading them to rekindle their dreams and create a long-term institution. The association was formed through the collaboration of four organizations, including the LGBT Helper Association, Queer & Class, LGBT Citizen Action Front, and Teacher Alliance, with the participation of many enthusiastic friends from society and campuses.

The Taiwan LGBT Hotline was officially launched in Taipei's Gongguan area and began providing services to the LGBTQ+ community in June of the same year. In 2000, the association registered with Taiwan's Ministry of the Interior, becoming the first national LGBTQ+ organization in the country. With the goal of eliminating discrimination and inequality, the association offers various services such as telephone counseling, workshops on coming out and LGBTQ+ issues, support groups, community forums, and resources for transgender-friendly healthcare.
