About 北投溫泉博物館 Beitou Hot Spring Museum
Beitou Hot Spring Museum is a historic cultural institution in Taipei, Taiwan, dedicated to preserving and sharing the heritage of Beitou and its hot spring culture. The museum occupies the former Beitou Public Bath, completed in 1913 and once the largest public bathhouse in East Asia. After falling into disuse, the building was rediscovered by Beitou Elementary School students and teachers in 1994, then restored and reopened as a museum in 1998. Today, it is a designated municipal historic site and a community-preserved museum that serves as a cultural hub for the Beitou area.
The museum offers visitor information, exhibitions, activities, educational resources, and opportunities to explore local history. Its website also features publications, videos, and cultural and creative gifts, alongside information about visits and transport. Additional services include venue rental, volunteer recruitment, and learning and outreach programs. Through these offerings, Beitou Hot Spring Museum connects visitors with the district’s history and encourages the continued appreciation and transmission of local culture.
