Houtokukai

Houtokukai is a social welfare corporation based in Fukuchi, Tagawa District, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Established in 1979, it works toward a warmer, more inclusive society guided by the motto “living together,” offering support so people can live with security and dignity. Its services help people with disabilities build independent daily and social lives, including residential support, day care, group homes, vocational training, and opportunities for employment and productive activity.

The organization also operates child development support centers, consultation services for people with disabilities and their families, employment and life-support services, and a group home for older adults with dementia. Through its vocational programs, Houtokukai develops and produces custom frozen curry for businesses and shops. Its other products include sesame oil, barley and sweet-potato shochu, handmade oil soap, canned goods, T-shirts, and dried wood ear mushrooms.

The corporation also operates a solar power facility and supports local cultural preservation. Houtokukai’s activities combine practical care, community participation, and work opportunities across the region
