H-STAT Georgia (Health Students Taking Action Together) is a student-run nonprofit that unites health professions students across Georgia and across disciplines to improve the health of people in the state. Since 2001, it has worked to develop future health leaders through education, advocacy, service, and research, helping students connect classroom learning with community needs and public policy.

The organization offers programs and initiatives focused on healthcare access, voting rights, legislative training, street medicine, immigration health, incarceration health, and hypertension prevention. Its work includes community service and preventive health screenings, advocacy campaigns, publications, statements, and educational resources. H-STAT also gives students opportunities to collaborate, gain hands-on community experience, and make advocacy an ongoing part of their professional lives.

Past efforts have included campaigning to prevent Grady Memorial Hospital from closing and helping secure sustainable funding for Georgia’s trauma system. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and civic engagement, H-STAT aims to prepare students to influence healthcare and contribute to a healthier Georgia.
