With a rich history spanning over 30 years, this network has collaborated with various rural health groups to bring about positive change in the field of rural health. In 2022, Hauora Taiwhenua made the decision to merge with its partners and establish a united voice for rural health.

The network's vision is to create healthy and thriving rural communities, and its strategic objectives are centered around equitable access to health and disability services, promoting a coordinated healthcare system, ensuring a sufficient rural health workforce, and advancing research to positively influence rural health outcomes. Membership with Hauora Taiwhenua offers individuals and organizations the opportunity to be part of a community dedicated to rural health. Members can stay informed, share ideas, and network with like-minded individuals through chapter-specific forums and events.

Hauora Taiwhenua also offers a recruitment service through its NZLocums & NZMedJobs team, which helps to place doctors and Nurse Practitioners in both rural and urban general practices throughout New Zealand.
