Huckleberry Alliance

Huckleberry Alliance, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Winchester, Virginia, dedicated to supporting, encouraging, and inspiring fatherless teenagers as they face adversity. Inspired by the perseverance of Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn and the life of Howard “Sonny” Langley, the organization emphasizes resilience, optimism, and academic achievement. Sonny, a Naval Academy graduate, Marine, Vietnam veteran, and entrepreneur, is honored through the Collegiate Scholarship Honoring the Legacy of Howard (Sonny) Langley.

The organization’s Board of Directors draws on personal experiences to encourage young people and demonstrate that challenges can be overcome. Huckleberry Alliance also hopes to expand its work throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and develop a virtues initiative. Its activities are funded solely through generous community offerings, and it welcomes volunteers who wish to contribute in any capacity. Donations help sustain its mission and scholarship efforts. Guided by the call in Isaiah 1:17 to defend the cause of the fatherless, Huckleberry Alliance affirms that everyone deserves support and the opportunity to thrive.
